Shankaran Nair was a highly respected lawyer who strongly supported the British colonial administration. One of the most remarkable things about him was that he won every case he took on.

During World War I, the British, lacking sufficient military manpower, promised India that they would grant independence in return for military support. As a result, many Indians joined the British army and fought in the war.

However, after the war ended, the British broke their promise. Among those who had contributed the most soldiers were the Punjabis, who felt deeply betrayed and began to revolt.

It was during this period that a poet named Kripal Singh began mobilizing young Punjabis and became a leading figure in the rebellion. The British wanted to eliminate Kripal Singh, but every time they tried to prosecute him in court, he was acquitted.

This led to increased pressure, and eventually, Shankaran Nair was assigned to take on the case against Kripal Singh, in the hopes of finally securing a conviction. That’s how Shankaran Nair found himself involved in the events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Even though Shankaran Nair was Indian by birth, he was working on behalf of the British — which raises the question: Why would an Indian fight for the British side?

And what exactly led to the horrific massacre at Jallianwala Bagh?

These are the kinds of questions explored in this historically gripping drama.
